About my work
The Autumn Diaries series made in 1997 just after the end of the studies of Fine Arts, opened without me knowing it, which would be the lines of work that I developed over the years. It was the first time I brought together under a single concept a series of works and collected in a book-portfolio. In it was already the main subjects of my work:
Man, Nature and ecology. The relationship between man and nature, landscape, the environment has become the central part of my work both theoretical -publishing various writings with this subject and organizing various workshops - and with my artworks such as ‘Process Work No. 1‘ and ‘ Process Work No. 2 ‘,’ Trajected Landscapes ’, etc.. Many times I played with the representation of the relationship between man and nature, showing it through technology - ‘Landscape (Neon)‘, ‘Flow Tech Garden‘-although sometimes is seen as opposites. In my thoughts always emerge ecological concerns about our relationship with our environment and how we can find a balance that allows an harmonious living. In many of these works is shown in a certain way, the tension in the relationship between man with his environment.
Expanded Objects. I call Expanded Objects to all those objects manipulated always within their own materiality - that means without adding new materials-thus creating an expansion in the field of their meanings that allows glimpse new worlds that are implicit and then revealed and become visible . Among these works is the series ‘Hermeneutics Manual I‘,’Hermeneutics Manual II‘ ,’Hermeneutics Manual III‘etc..
Textual Art. The textual aspect of my work is expressed through series that investigates this explicitly as ‘ Facts, Sentences and Statements‘ -with which I explore the power of words, play with words and the nonsense that sometimes evoke one’s own language-and also through ‘Reiterations‘ - which like mantras blur the contours of the words and transcends their meanings and led into different and unexplored places. Also the titles of the works are a fundamental part of my work that lives in a symbiotic relation with the works itself.
Mystic, transcendence and immanence. This is precisely one of the major axes of my work that explore in more extensive pieces as performances such as ‘Lampyridae‘ , ‘Illuminatio‘ or the project for the opera ‘Synthesis or the discovery of honey‘. Besides the theme of ‘light’ as excessive images-knowledge-know-perception is present in the performances to which I referred and in the series on ‘The trascendence of the image‘, including the aforementioned series ‘Reiterations‘ .
The body objectualization. Works like ‘How to turn a man into a comfortable armchair‘, ‘Keep it‘ or ‘Flower Pot‘ are based on the idea of turning my own body into an object of everyday use.
My work is highly conceptual and therefore is not defined by a style, material or certain shape. The ideas are embodied in materials and forms to which they are due. My works are phenomena that occur over time, phenomena that neither I control, but happening reveal a structure of thought accessible only through intuitive thinking.
Sometimes, reveals ideas; sometimes unveils ideas; sometimes embodies ideas.
His own formalization reveals the system that gives them origin and at the same time the potential strategies apprehension.
Only a hermeneutic look -that means slow, quiet and thoughtful-is able to enter it, by contrast, only a quick glance and superficial creates noise (bruit) of incomprehension.
